Nail Imaging FAQs

How long will it take to print a pair of hands?
It takes five minutes to print a pair of hands one nail at a time not including nail prep time and choosing the design, which varies. Total time to do the nails would be about 15 minutes.

How long will the designs last?
They’ll last between 10 days to 2 weeks with minimal maintenance. Remember to allow your tips to dry completely before using hands and nails for anything that will put pressure on the tips, and that will increase nail life. tat’z nail’z™  can, however, be maintained for over two weeks depending on the the following factors:

1. Natural nail lasting time varies due to natural oils released on natural nails. Some nails are more oily than others. Ask the client how long regular polish lasts – tat’z nail fashion will last approximately as long as polish does. However, to ensure the longest lasting time – be sure the clean the nail surface, use natural nail base coat, then a base coat – before the preprint lacquer. We do not recommend using non-tat’z polishes as our polishes have been tested for their lasting ability.

2. To care for the new designs, you must replenish the top sealer coat after approximately 2 days. Repeat the top coat every 3 days to ensure lasting ability and reduce chipping.

3. For the longest lasting nail image, print design before applying gel or acrylic to nail. When applying the gel top coat or clear top coat, cure with a UV light as normal. With gel and acrylic as a topcoat, designs will last indefinitely.

Everyone's nails are different – some wide, some short, some curvy. How can you ensure a good quality print that accommodates the differences in shape?
Every tat’z nail’z™  machine has a visual display of the nail being being printed on and the image it will print. This allows the operator to adjust the size, position, color, height, width, and even mask out part of the image before printing. The operator is in total control of the outcome. Taking time to get each nail right is important, as nail fashion is about perfection. An experienced operator will know how to ensure perfect printing through making the correct adjustments.

tat’z nail’z™  imagers work in a very intuitive manner, but operator training and certification will be incorporated with the machine leasing. Trained personnel will always be in charge of the printer, so the client will receive the best, most professional results.

What types of images can be placed on nails?
You name it! Anything that can be photographed or designs saved as jpegs can be put on your nails. Images of loved ones, pets, designs, fabric designs, team logos…the list goes on. Never again will your nails not match your wardrobe!

How many fingers can a tat'z nail'z™ imager print on at a time?
A  tat’z nail’z™  imager prints on one finger at a time – and for good reason. It’s the best technology in the business, and creates the highest quality image. There’s a clear difference in the quality between printing with a single nail printer like the tat’z vs. lesser quality multi-nail printers.

Multi-nail printers (manufactured by some competitors) have varying heights between nail surfaces and the printer head. The distance of the nail from the printer should always be
approximately .08 of an inch for the absolute best results. On multi-finger printers, only the thumb and middle fingers usually reach the optimal printing zone. The other fingers will show diminished resolution and quality. Every nail is printed perfectly with the tat’z nail imager. I usually wear artificial nails, and often buy pre-decorated nails at the local drug store. Can the tat’z machine print on artificial nails? Also, can you print on toenails?

Not only does the tat’z nail imager print on our artificial nail sets of 10 or 20 nails, but it prints them all at the same time on the included nail holder! Each artificial nail is also fully customizable. They can have different designs on each one, and the designs are limited only by your imagination, unlike the drug store variety, which you’re limited to a few unoriginal designs.

Tat’z nail’z™  sets can also be applied to toenails!

Can the tat’z nail imager print on a single part of the nail?
Yes, if you want to print a design on the white tip portion of a French manicure, the  tat’z nail’z™  imager has a cutter feature that will cut any design to only print on the tip of your nail as like a French manicure. You may also print any design on any part of the nail by scaling, stretching, even widening it to the desired size – then printing it anywhere on the nail surface.

Can embellishments be added to a printed nail?
When color printing is complete, coat the nail with a clear coat polish and use this to bond rhinestones, gold/silver powder, foil and etc. for a truly professional result. A starter embellishment kit comes with the printer, and replacement kits will be available.

What happens If the ink sprays onto the skin?
The ink is water soluble and will wash off if tended to immediately. However, we provide rubber nail forms which are highly recommended when performing full nail surface prints. Rubber nail forms are one of a kind. They contour around any finger size, and serve as skin protectors.

Do nails need any special polish or coating?
Yes. Before printing on any nail surface, a special preprint lacquer is required . Without the preprint lacquer, designs won’t appear as sharp, and will not last long. We also recommend nails be manicured first before application. More information regarding this is found in the the user manual.
